Pretty much established that it takes me 5-6 hours to create a free site with 2 galleries, a gallery for tgps, setup and submit using chameleon link list and tgp submitter, then finally do the email confirmations.

Once I have about 30+ different templates, I’m sure I’ll be able to reuse some of them. I know for sure that I am not going to reuse some of the templates I’ve made already. They were my first attempts, so they really aren’t optimized for click through, never mind that they are sort of ugly.

To get some good examples of free sites and templates, I simply go to Richard’s Realm and The Hun to see what they are accepting lately. I got some really good ideas last night. One of the galleries used an interesting trick with a background graphic that I hadn’t thought of before. Others had layouts that I found attractive.

The nice thing about this business is that it is relatively simple. I don’t mean that it is easy. Just that you can pretty much follow what others are doing successfully and duplicate it. The rules for getting link list and tgp traffic are pretty strict, so there isn’t much wiggle room to get creative. Building galleries and free sites are also limited by strict rules. So the name of the game here is just putting in the work, which is what I’ve been trying to do everyday this month.

One of the big advantages of this business is that you can start with about $25. Start joining affiliate programs, building sites, then submitting your stuff to other sites. The downside is there is a relatively huge learning curve for the complete newbie. Although I’m on Day 9 on this blog, it took several weeks of reading forums, asking questions, and researching before I had a plan put together to build this business. I’m now executing that plan and logging it here. (P.S. I welcome your feedback and suggestions to anyone reading)

Another big hurdle to overcome were my own expectations. I get bombarded with advertising from sponsors who want me to promote their content. They claim huge payouts, great conversions, and all the tools you need to succeed. It can be easy to believe that all I have to do is put up a banner and the money will roll in. Of course, I don’t really expect it to be that easy, but I didn’t expect it would take me onwards of 6 hours to build and promote a single free site and tgp gallery.

Anyway, enough bitching. I spent about 5.5 hours last night after work building the following:

Still no sales directly related to the above efforts. Steady increase in traffic, particularly since I started submitting to TGPs. I got a little higher reject rate last night. At 1am, I was just too tired to deal with that, but hopefully tonight I’ll have the energy to review some of the issues.
