2257 Mess and buying content

I’ve been a little crunched for time the last few days. Some personal stuff and longer hours at the day job. Nothing serious, just it took away my energy to build the adult business.

In my previous post, I started talking about blogging for the adult business. During the research, I came across something I hadn’t really thought much about, 2257 stuff. Apparently it’s now required to have docs on all your sponsors content as well. To date, I haven’t found a sponsor who says they will give you the docs. To be fair, I haven’t asked for them either, but I think I know what the answer will be. I have to assume they will act as third party holders and all we have to do is point to their 2257 statement directly. But they don’t even claim to do that right now. Hopefully they will get up to speed for USA webmasters.

2257 is not required for softcore stuff, where you are just showing breasts and thongs in an artistic way. It’s a little vague, but generally pg-13 is safe. So now I’m very careful about which content I download and put on my sites. So pretty much everything hardcore is out and anyone who looks too young. The intent of 2257 is to protect children, so I doubt there will be much time for enforcement on sites that have milf and mature on them. In fact, the only enforcement case I can find was against the girls gone wild producers.

So what’s a webmaster to do? I simply decided to buy content with the 2257 docs. I found some awesome content really cheap at Scarlettcontent.net. They have a special right now for $2/gallery when you buy 30. So I purchased 30 galleries for a mere $60! The quality is excellent on 90%, and very good on the rest, but for $2 I’m extremely happy! I’m guessing I have about 3000 pics now with the 2257 docs. I bought mostly solo girls and a few couples. I plan on using them mostly for my blogs and virtuagirl galleries. It’s really cheap insurance in case they ever decide to check up on me.

Here’s a downsized sample:

The only problem with buying content is that it’s hard to pair up the pics with specialty sites that some of the sponsors have. Like pimproll has fuckmymommyandme.com and trafficcashgold has titsandammo.com. However, it is awesome to finally have some rated R and rated X material for my blogs with 2257 docs. I’m leaning towards only posting softcore from now on. This should be fine for dating, cam, and virtuagirl type sponsors anyway.

I’ll post some more about my adult blogs once I have something decent to show. I don’t want to give the domains just yet since I’d like the traffic to be virtually zero until I start actively promoting them — hopefully by tomorrow. It’s turning out to be more challenging that I thought. Setting up the layout and organizing my content is taking a lot more time that it should. I normally don’t like to over think things before putting something into action, but I don’t want to have to redo everything either. There’s an old saying by carpenters: “measure twice, cut once”.

  1. What I do is go to the site I am promoting and copy the 2257 link from their site. here are a couple examples:

  2. I’ve been doing that as well. But unless the sponsor is willing to be the third party custodian, you would be required to have the docs as well. This is something new as of November 2009. Anyone showing hardcore porn on their site is a secondary producer and required to have the docs. Like I said above, it doubt there will be much time or motivation for enforcement on sites that are clearly not harming children (under 18). But the law is the law. If someone decides to come after you like they did the girls gone wild guy, it could be a problem.

  3. Hey Rob,

I like your site, I have been following your posts for a few days and you’ve been very encouraging to me.

I’m in the middle of setting up a few blogs and have decided to use non-nude content. The only problem I’m having now is that I’m not sure if the pics have to comply with 2257 or not since the blogs that I’m doing are promoting BDSM sites and even though there is no nudity in the pics, the women are bound and/or gagged.

Will the Online Age Verification and Child Safety Act kill adult blogging and gallery/freesite submitting if it passes?

It seems that every time I try and get back into the business there’s always a new piece of legislation coming out that scares me off.

  4. I’m really no expert, but for bdsm I would follow hogtied.com example. They are one of the biggest bdsm sites. You’ll see the have warning page with some nudity. They are based in the California, so I would assume they will keep their site compliant.

I know what you mean about there is always some new legislation. I see it all the time in mainstream online and brick and mortar businesses too. Like the recent FTC rules targeting testimonials on a site.

There are just too many people that go to work everyday who’s job is to make a new law. I wish we had just as many people going to work everyday to take some laws off the books. I have no doubt we could take half the laws off the books and no one would be the wiser.

    Thanks for reading.

  5. Hey, I’m looking to buy some non-nude & r rated content. Do you have any suggestions where to find? I’m googling all over and not having much luck. Thanks!

  6. I’ve been looking for that too. The closest I’ve been able to come to that kind of content is with http://www.scarlettcontent.net

The first 20-30 pictures in a 100+ pic set has the girl dressed then stripping down to undies. The next 70+ pics are nude to xxx.

If you find a content provider let me know. You might want to check out the forums I listed on the right side and ask there.

    Thanks for reading!

  7. Hi Mark/Rob,
Do you know how can the 2257 law affect to an European webmaster. My host is also outside USA.
    Any comments?

    Thanks,

  8. Sorry, can’t help you with 2257. I know totemcash is in France, so you can see what they do. http://www75.virtuagirlhd.com/us/2257.php

I would just try searching one of the forums if you haven’t already.
