People who post their stats

I took a full 3 days off from submitting, just had too much going on offline. Traffic has dropped off a bit as expected, but hopefully will be back up to speed by Friday.

Anyway, thought I’d post a few links to people who are posting their stats. It’s helpful to see conversion rates, sponsors, and niches that convert.

The most comprehensive stats by far come from the greenguyandjim site. They break down everything by sponsor, by niche, by payment. You can brainstorm a bit and look for opportunities based on the raw numbers. For example, it’s obvious teen sites still do well based on the fact that they got sales from almost every sponsor. Cam sites also did well. So you could make a site with teen cams.  Foot fetish and lesbians didn’t do to well, so I would avoid making sites about lesbian feet.  I’m oversimplifying, but you get the idea.

Another thing I noticed was that Daredorm with Nastydollars converted at like 1:73!  I have three blogs I bought just to promote them last month.  I haven’t done anything with them yet, but definitely gonna start working on that tonight.

Another good place to look at stats is on howling-wulfs blog. He just posted his year end results. Interesting to see that he actually had more sales in 2009 vs 2008. Granted, he had to probably work 5 times as hard, but he did it. The main thing I draw from his stats is the fact that he spent only about 10% of his gross revenue on overhead. That’s quite a return on the money!

Finally, mikesinner posts his stats at the mediumpimpin forum. Here’s the most recent http://bbs.mediumpimpin.com/showthread.php?t=92797

I see that he is getting 316k hits, with 81k to sponsors!  That’s an amazing number to me – 1:4 people click on his sponsor links!  However only 114 sales, or 1:710 conversions.  Still very respectable.

Of course I always post my own stats every month, and give some updates along the way. Currently I am up about $200. So I’ve covered my $100 in expenses to run this business. My boneme partner account expired. It brought some great traffic, but i’m just not working enough right now to make it worthwhile, so I’ve decided not to renew it right now. Once I get back into a groove of multi-submits daily, I’ll definitely renew that account. Right now I’m just wasting my money.

I spent some time making a new gallery template.  I really want to continue promoting totemcash since it consistently sells for me.

As you can see above, the last 30 days have been very good, even with the holidays.

Here is my new template:  Lea Tyron

I submitted it to my biggest hitters right now – persiankitty, tommys-bookmarks, and thehun, plus 170 sites using chameleon.  I use this similar hard sell on virtuagirl in all my templates, which may explain why my conversions are very good.  You’re welcome to use any of the elements from my templates, so long as you make them your own and not just flat out copy me.  All of the text comes from totemcash directly, all I do is outline some of the features.  I do all of the graphics from scratch using fireworks.

Hopefully will find some useful information from other people’s stats.  You see the kinds of things I look for, I’d be interested to see what you find, please share.

Anyway, it’s a race to the end of the month to break $500.  I really want to hit this target so I feel like I’m moving forward.  I hit $500 in November, I have to stop making excuses and get to work.

There is money in this business.  At least that’s what I keep telling myself.  Hope all is well for you and yours.

  1. Hi Rob, good stuff. I been reading the others too all great info
I have to say, Totem is not converting for me, I have 1200 hits 50 installs ZERO sales. Do you find a percentage of the installs turn to sales, e.g. some of your sales this month were installs last month?
I am in the home stretch of month one, been submitting daily, have 3 partner accounts, RR, Shemp and Boneme, think Tommy is next. I will post results from them after 1 month here. I am in this now for about $500 and sales are tough – im at $95 in sales for 25 days of effort, 5 more days to get over the $100 mark ? that’s my goal. Then come up with a plan to hit my monthly costs (partner accounts + Chem submitter) + $50 next month. That’s about $200 goal :-P
    Thanks again,

PS – Still no blog just no time but I plan to do one this weekend and push some traffic to it via submits once its ready – thanks

  3. You have a bunch of partner accounts! How many galleries are submitting per day to each? Howling wulf submits like 5 per day I think to maybe 9 or 10 partner accounts including the ones you have. However, he’s averaging about 8k/month in revenue.

I’m not ready to buy all those partner accounts, mostly because I just can’t get up to submitting 5 galleries per day yet. I’m very content with tommy’s right now, as it brings in plenty of traffic, but still behind thehun and persiankitty which are free. But it’s only $100/year – a real bargain.

For cropping and resizing, I use irfanview all the time. It’s free and has some great plugins. For graphics, I use fireworks – fairly expensive but worth it. Dreamweaver has a gallery function that works with fireworks that is pretty sweet. Most of my virtuagirl galleries are made using that function.

There are plenty of other free graphic programs that look good. Just search download.com. I haven’t used any of them since I have fireworks. I’ll research a bit and make a new post later. I just can’t remember all the ones I found when I was looking before.

I really can’t tell when the installs convert to sales for totemcash. But totemcash claims (and I believe them) that you get paid on all purchases regardless of when they installed or clicked your link.

I’m surprised after 50 installs that you have no sales. But this kinda happen to me in november when I made almost $400. The first two weeks had 81 installs and no sales, then suddenly the last two weeks had like 70 installs and 31 sales. I’m sure many of those sales were from installs in the previous pay period.

  5. Hi Rob,
First Month is done see below for my modest stats ?
Expenses: Hosting $101 (I got two virtual hosts, (added one last week)will get dedicated in a year if this all works out)

Partner accounts (Added Tommy only 2 weeks ago and Boneme/Shemp only this week) with RR total $219,

Chameleon I did monthly sub for submit $25, Confirmer $25 and LL $25 (I also got 3 month partner submitter that I would not recommend – waste of $99 imo) total – $147 im doubtful to get another month of L I will just hand submit Free sites to LL be more selective. I built 5 Free sites but with submissions I just cant do both consistently atm.
$467 expense, I easily could have that down close to 300 without PA and LL from chameleon
    Sales $146

$60 form Ama Kings, $61 form 3 diff CCbill affil, $15 form Brothres in Cash, $12 form Fetish Kings Network

NET 30 days in – Down $320, I average 4-6 hours a day in submissions atm
Disappointed in Totem plesently surprised with Ama Kings

I suppose now that the submits are rolling and partner accounsts are in place its realistic to think sales could reach $300 (thtas my target) an dexpenses should drop alot, expected $250-$300 in exp so to make progress I need to get past $300 this month :)

  6. Hey Bill,

Thanks for that detailed account of your first month. You really went all out. Seems like you did your research before working the business.

Assuming your galleries are decent, you should easily hit your targets.

Your virtual hosting expenses seem high. I use webair for 400gig $9.95/month. Dedicated goes between $90-$150 from what I see.

I’m still doing well with totemcash relatively speaking. Got another sale today.

Please don’t hesitate to post your webmaster referral links for your affiliates. I’m not setup with any of the ones you mentioned, so there is some opportunity there for both of us.
