Rather than rewrite this entire post – Please see new post above this one.
Jim asked me the following question:
Your methodology is interesting. Did you compare the results between “professional” ladning pages and those that you designed yourself?
Is the CTR/final conversion just the same/better/much better?Good work
Jim
I’m going to use March 1 – March 9 stats since I can put those together quickly. I may come back later and edit this post if I find a made some mistakes in counting, but this is what I think I have right now.
CTR is very good for virtuagril. I seem to have that nailed – it’s seems to always be above 30% no matter where a gallery gets listed. (see new post – I screwed up the numbers) Conversions are much harder for me to track since totemcash doesn’t have a very good “referral” link tracking on sales.
Just my opinion, but I feel like if I get the ctr – it’s up to totemcash to convert it into a sale for me. But, based on my gut feelings, I don’t recall ever seeing a conversion from persian kitty or tommys, but do have some from thehun and freeones.
For other affiliates – my traffic is so low it’s really not statistically relavent.
Galleries I made myself from “internet marketing templates”:
VirtuaGirl: 2900 unique hits – 1080 clicks to sponsor – 35 installs – 2 sales. (See New Post)
Fling: virtually no clicks to sponser and no sales
1235 entry page hits – 0 free joins – 0 sales.
NastyDollars Daredorm: free site I made myself 336 entry page hits – 33 clicks – 1 sale
TopBucks: lesbian and amateur galleries I made: 4400 uniques – 46 clicks – 0 sales.
Virtually copied sponsor gallery templates:
Trafficcashgold Milf: 190 entry page hits – 18 clicks – 0 sales
Pimproll milf: 1200 uniques – 25 clicks – 0 sales
Hopefully I answered the question. As you can see, the ctr is all over the place. But comparing topbucks galleries I made my self to the sponsor templates is interesting. I get about 1% on my homebrew topbucks gallery vs. the 2%s on pimproll.

Your traffic is pretty low which makes it very hard to analyze. You clearly got virtualgirl working – even with low traffic you have 35+% CTR and very good conversion rate.
About the sponsors – I feel the same way you do – after I bring them in it’s up to the sponsor to make the sale. However, when they get there, is it really what they expected to see when they clicked your text/banner? Misleading sales text can lead to poor statistics and once you compare it to published statistics you can be very disappointed.
Work hard(er) on your traffic, you’re getting closer

Hey, Major.
Whenever I submit galleries, I don’t even get free signups – and barely any clicks – so you’re doing much better than me on the submission side.
All of my sales have come from my blog. The only reason I submit galleries for fling is to build some backlinks.
About your gallery, looks good. Only critique I have is one that was given to me about having the sponsors easy to type-in domain name in large print. Hence, my latest gallery look like this one : Kay is Looking for a Fling

Yea but Rob the thing about that is what you have would be considered a blind link. Alot of TGP’s will not list you for that. You generally want to have the name of the site in a text link unless the text is used on the bottom of a banner. Basically the surfer has to know he is leaving your site.

I did have a couple of galleries go out with links back to my site, but have stopped that practice under the advice of many.
My galleries now just have the domain name in the graphic without a link. Like the “Kay is looking for a fling” gallery I made – there are no links back to my site, but I put in pretty big letters the domain name of my site. (hoping for some type-in traffic).
On the galleries I used the text links to my sites – it said “No thanks – take me to Rated X Pics.com” or something like that. My intent was to build some backlinks with anchor text – not to “blind link”.
Now I’m all flustered. But thanks for the feedback, I will have to be more careful about “blind linking” in general.

To me the gallery looks fine I just know that is one thing that tgp and link list owners look at alot.

Jim,
Your comment about misleading sales text leading to poor conversions is good advice. I think that’s why I do pretty well with virtuagirl (relatively speaking). Most of the text is simply “download free click here” stuff. So it’s pretty straight forward.
PS: I updated my blog to better answer your previous question about comparing galleries. Looks good so far.
