Just the other day I posted how I need to move my stuff to a another computer. My work computer is 6 years old and just couldn’t handle the videos I made and planned on making in the future. I was gonna wait till I moved in 2 weeks to backup everything and start using my “newer” machine with core2 quad and gts250 video card with cuda in my new home office setup.
I lost a shitload of stuff. I really can’t remember everything I had on that drive. It was 500gb full. The hard drive was not quite 2 years old. I put a shit load of stuff on it when I bought it since it was the newest drive at the time. I know for sure I lost all my business records from years past. Not sure how I’m gonna do my taxes now. Frak!
It also had a ton of software on it that is keyed to that machine. So now I have to contact the software company to see if they will let me reinstall this software on my other computer without paying again. I tried reinstalling some of them and they won’t work.
Ironically the original 120gb drive that came with the computer is still working. I took most of the stuff of that old drive and put it onto the new drive that just died. Now I wish I didn’t do that. shit shit shit.
This is the second seagate drive to die on me in the last year. I bought a brand new seagate 1tb drive last year and it died within 4 months.
I’m sticking with western digital and going to setup a raid so if one drive fails the other will still have the data. Of course, a bad power supply could kill both drives at the same time and that would be just my luck. Right now I have 5 western digitals including the 6 year old 120gb going strong. I’m down to just one working seagate drive from 2007 – better start backing that shit up. Luckily it’s only a 160gb and it’s not even half full.
Sorry for the rant, but this sucks to no end. I did all my online business on that computer. I know over the next few days I’m gonna find out I lost some important shit that will be a pain in the ass to replace, if not impossible.
on the bright side, I did backup all my personal pics to dvd about 2 years ago. I also found a backup of my emails that’s only about 1 year old. So nothing major lost there since I’ve had no life since then anyway. LOL.

Looking good bill. My main computer is still down, so not getting much done. Spent lots of time last night installing software to my new “work” computer. Gonna buy some new drives tonight. I’ll try and do another fireworks video. ARe you using dreamweaver or frontpage?

Yea rob I need that more fireworks vids also. I just kinda need to know after you make the top part of the template like you did in the video. How do you get your gallery in it. I know that may sound like a stupid question but i have absolutely no experience in fireworks.

Hi, Major.
I promise, I’ll get to the videos tonight. I haven’t even made a gallery since my last post before the hard drive crashed!
But to quickly answer your question, I use dreamweaver to put the gallery in, although any html editor will work.
You use the “export area” tool in fireworks, where you slice off the top first, then the middle, then the bottom. You will have 3 jpgs. Then use your html editor and create a 3 row table and insert the top jpg into row 1, the middle jpg as background into row 2, and bottom jpg into the 3rd row.
Create your gallery using any gallery generator, then insert your gallery of thumbs into the 2 row of the table.
