Where has all the time gone?

Gosh, seems like yesterday I made my last post.  Hope everyone had a great summer.

I haven’t submitted or done anything since mid July!  So I’m easing back into this business by updating some blogs for now.  So much to do.  I forgot how many blogs I have sitting around with no updates.

Fortunately, I still got some sales even without lifting a finger.  Of all the sponsors, only fling and totemcash earned money during my extended break.

Below you might notice amazing conversions.  Unfortunately, they were just sms sales for 50 cents.  Although I’ll take the money, it really skews the data.

Below are webmaster referrals

September really picked up for no reason other than summer is over.  Conversions were excellent with a $ per sale near $10 each.

And here are the fling stats.  Even though I haven’t updated that blog in a long time, it still converts.

For the three months (July, August, September), I only had one chameleon expense and hosting expenses.

Expenses for 3 months:

  • Hosting: $81
  • Chameleon: $25

Income for 3 months:

  • Totemcash: $386
  • Fling: $455

Net Income: $735

October is shaping up already.  Have 4 sales on totemcash for $44 this week.  Hence, I’ve covered my hosting expenses plus a pro-rated domain registration fees (about $1 for each domain/month).

I hope all of you are doing well and have been working the business.  I’m going to really try and get back into the swing of things and start submitting again.  For now, I just need to get my blogs in order.

Let me know how your last three months have been.  Be nice to hear from all of you!

Summer Months

Summer is generally a slow time for me on both my mainstream and adult sites.  I think that combined with the weak global economy is having a major impact on sales.  Unfortunately there is little I can do about it.

The first two weeks of July I actually pumped out about a dozen galleries, trying out a new sponsor and hitting up totemcash.  This past week I’ve been slacking off again.  I’ve been putting in 12-13 hour days including time at the gym, so I’m beat by the time I get home.  Still, I shouldn’t make excuses.  So tonight I’m here plugging away.  I’m actually right in the middle of uploading a new gallery for totemcash.

It takes very little time to build a gallery now.  Only about 10 minutes.  I simply make a few color changes to an old gallery and plug in the new pics.  Here’s my latest submit:

Laetitia Double Room

Here is a gallery that recently got listed at the hun:

Anna Teen

I’m trying out a new sponsor that is rated pretty highly: DreamCash

Here’s a screenshot of this month’s stats:

I’ve submitted four galleries from July 3rd to July 10th.  The gallery I listed above finally got posted to the hun on July 19th.

Approximately 68,000 Hits and 1032 clicks equals CTR: 1.5%

This is much lower than my totemcash galleries.  Looking back to this post: http://affiliatesurl.com/2010/03/22/great-results-with-new-galleries/

I was getting 4.8% on the hun.

So it seems teen niche is a tough sell on the hun.

I made a costly mistake this past month.  I didn’t update my new address with any of my sponsors, so several checks got returned and I’m in the process of getting the sponsors to reissue the checks to me.  Some of them want to charge $20 for each check for stop payment, others have not responded.  I’m gonna follow up again this week and will let you know.  This couldn’t happen at a worse time as income is dropping right now.

Anyway, I hope all of you are doing well, even if sales are down.  The summer months have always been slow.  So take this time to analyze the last 6 months and optimize your efforts for the next six months.  I fully predict things will pick up substantially in September.

Thanks again to Bill and Major for making great posts to this blog!

Happy 4th of July! – A look back at this year

I’m so lame, haven’t made any plans.  I don’t really care for crowds, so I don’t think I’ll go out and see fireworks.  Probably just have a beer and watch them on tv.

Anyway, thought I’d show a couple of more stats covering from the beginning of the year Jan 1.

NASTYDOLLARS

Galleries submitted: 16

Gross Earned: $105

PIMPROLL

Galleries Submitted: 5

Gross Earnings: $0

Note: about 2,000 hits are from a single free site I submitted in Dec of last year for “petite”.  Makes me want to start submitting free sites again. hmmmmmm

About 1000 hits to Trafficcashgold on 5 galleries,  and 1000 hits to TobBucks and only 1 gallery submitted – $0 earned.

FLING (have to show Jan 1 – Mar 15 and Mar 16 – Jul 4 separatly)

The rest of my income this year is from Totemcash and Fling.  For fling, I got all of my sales from a single blog for a total of $1190.  Totemcash is a little harder to nail down how many galleries I’ve submitted.  My average lately has been pretty low, so I’m guessing maybe 50 galleries altogether this year.  Got about 23,000 hits and 96 sales for a total of $1100.  I had a huge chargeback in March for sales made in November last year of about $329 :(   So my net is about $800.

I’ve made a few dollars from some other affiliates off my blogs that add up another $100 altogether.

Basically about $2600 gross income, $500 in expenses – net about $2100.

Overall I’m pretty happy with how the first half of this is is progressing.  As you know, life has a way of interrupting our business and I’ve had plenty of setbacks this year.  However, I feel like everything is settled now and I can refocus building this business.  I’m 4 days into my new schedule and it’s working out great.  I’ve actually submitted 5 galleries!!!

Not sure what goal I should set for myself for the end of the year.  I certainly think another $2000 is possible, but if I really work at it, I should be able to do much more.  I’m gonna brainstorm a bit and do some soul searching.   I need to have a vision and plan of action.  Just simply submitting galleries everyday can get boring and when I’m bored I quit.

Thanks again for reading my blog.  I probably would have quit a long time ago without your support.  I really enjoy sharing our experiences.

Ugh! Being lazy and Rate X Pics

Well being lazy really doesn’t pay.  Here are my eom stats for June:

I also had $13 in webmaster referral sales.  My conversions have also dipped.  I’m used to about 1:200 on totemcash – not 1:583!!!!  No doubt this had a significant impact on my gross revenue.  Must be that most of my galleries are getting old have hit the back pages by now and are getting lower quality traffic.  In fact, at least 2 of the sales above are from galleries I submitted months ago.  Once I start submitting again on a daily basis, my hope is that my conversions will go back to their norm.

Total Galleries submitted in June: 6 (LOL)

Hence:

  • Totemcash: $113
  • Fling: $175
  • Expenses: $47

Net Income: $241

Now I have to apologize that I haven’t written about this sooner and I want to thank major for making a great post about Rate X Pics.

I actually opened an account with them months ago and haven’t touched it since. I have 30 pics up pointing to my blog.  If you want to know how much traffic you might get, here are the stats for my blog over 30 days.

18x.com is also their site, so your pictures will automatically get posted there too.  So if you combine 18x and ratexpics, you get 445 hits in 30 days.  If I look over the last 6 months, it’s pretty much the same every month – between 1 and 15 hits per day.

Your traffic will vary greatly depending on how well rated your picture is.  If your picture hits the top 10, then you get on page 1 of the top 25 list.  This easily multiplies your traffic.  I can’t find the stats right now, but I remember seeing a few spikes when this happens – nothing like thousands of hits, more like 30-50 per day extra for a short while.

Do these turn into sales? There’s no reliable way to track it with totemcash.  I haven’t tried them with other sponsors that have good tracking.  All I can say is I do get sales from my blogs – far and few between.

Ratexpics is a great place to post pictures and test out what pics get rated and clicked on.  Hell, you might even get a few sales.  However, it’s very limited – 30 pics and only 1 account allowed.  You could buy some spots there for a reasonable price, which I’ve considered.  Oh! and don’t forget their free toplist.  You just put their link on your site.  I’ve had their link on my blog since october.  You get a few clicks from that too.

Okay, as far as sticking to my new schedule – so far so good! The last two days I’ve gotten up early, submitted a gallery, went to the gym, went to work, then came home and relaxed. I think this routine is doable and I can force myself to do this until it’s just habit.

I noticed about 12 sites have blacklisted me this month. They look like they are all the same owner, but I haven’t verified this yet. Not sure why. I’ve been submitting to them for as long as I’ve had chameleon. They didn’t drive any traffic, so I’m not too worried, but I would like to find out what I did wrong so I don’t repeat it. I’ll have to review their rules very carefully and see if I consistently broke one or if it was just a one off thing.

As always, I hope you all are doing well and thanks again Major for posting!

Creatures of Habit

For whatever reason, I just can’t get back into the swing of things.  So I reflected back on the last 10 years of my life trying to figure out where I turned a bad corner.

Right around 2006 (the year I turned 40) I started loosing steam.  I’ve put on about 30 pounds, stopped exercising, stopped going out socially, and lost my will to make any substantial amount of money.  I’ve learned to get by doing and earning as little as possible.  I think the problem is I’m just too much a creature of habit.  After 4 years of this, I’ve gotten lazy.

So today I made a schedule that I plan on sticking too.  Basically it’s go start the day early, build a gallery, go to the gym, have lunch, go to work, then wind down – which includes writing in this blog which I enjoy :) .

I found a link list script that is very simple but could come in handy. I’m going to implement this on 2 blogs and give myself some time to think about how to really use this one.  BlogRolling.com There are probably some other free ones out there, so if you know of a good one, please share it with us.

Basically it lets you put links on your blog (or any type of site) like a blog roll.  WordPress has this built in already, but using this script, you can centralize all your links.

So for example, I want to have all my dating sites have links to all my other dating sites.  I just add all my dating site links into one place and then add one line of script to all my dating blogs.  Now whenever I add a new dating site, all my dating sites will have links to it – without me having to go into each site and add it to the blog roll.

I setup my totemcash blogs to test it out.  Go to Rated X Pics and look at the bottom of the right sidebar.  You’ll see links to 2 other totemcash blogs I have.  Then if you visit those, you’ll see the same links.

Damn, the above link list script from blogrolling puts a popup ad on your site.  Can’t recommend it for adult sites, but maybe you have other sites this may be suitable for, so I’m gonna leave the above for reference.  I’ve removed it from my blogs for now – at least until they implement the following:

If you have a BlogRolling account, we will soon provide a feature that allows your blog to opt-out of having ads displayed above it for other BlogRolls.

Another thing I finally got working was the totemcash “Transparent Flash Girls“. If you visit Beautiful Desktop, you should see a girl pop up after a few seconds. Pretty neat. It was a bit tricky, so if you need some help setting this up, let me know. Maybe I can make a video – haven’t made one of those in a while.

Well, I hope you are all doing well and still going at it.  Some of you have passed me up in terms of gross sales.  I think that’s just awesome!  It’s what has motivated me to setup my new schedule and start working out again.  And thank you again for stopping by and reading.  :)

WordPress Blogs Getting hacked!

Several of my blogs are getting hacked.  I’m not alone, this appears to be affecting millions of wordpress blogs.  It’s inserting redirect scripts on all my index*.* files.  This is also affecting all my galleries that use “index” in the file name.  I’ve had to go in and fix about 12 blogs and hundreds of files yesterday.  Basically I have to download wordpress and upload it to overwrite all the files.  This has worked on all but one of my blogs, which I’m still trying to get back up.

Here are some links that describe what’s happening.  Although the particular hack that is affecting me is not exactly as described in these articles, it’s pretty close.  I’m sure we’re going to see several variations of this hack spreading out until the hosting companies figure out how to stop this.

This is affecting my blogs on hostgator and occ.  Webair sent me an email notifying me of suspicious activity and changed my ftp password.  So far those sites are okay.

http://www.digitaldrake.com/wordpress-hack-cleanup-solution/

http://blog.sucuri.net/2010/04/details-on-the-network-solutions-wordpress-mass-hack.html

Besides being a pain in the ass, this could potentially put my sites on a blacklist as a malicious site if left unchecked! People are reporting their own hosting company shutting down their entire accounts.  So visit your sites regularly and make sure they haven’t been hacked.

I installed avast free antivirus on my computer which luckily blocked this script before infecting my computer, which is what brought this to my attention when I was trying to login to one of my blogs.

So install avast (or other credible antivirus program) right away.  This hack as been identified as dangerous – allowing the hacker to gain access to your computer.

.xxx top level domain

This has been in the hopper for at least 10 years and it’s now finally gaining some traction.  Here’s an article  from cnn yesterday: http://www.cnn.com/2010/TECH/web/06/25/xxx.domain/index.html?npt=NP1

I don’t think we need another tld, especially one just for porn.  Although there is no law right now requiring adult sites to use the .xxx tld, I feel like these things usually have a way of working there way up to the status of “unwritten” law.  Without getting into censorship issues, hosting companies could easily write this into their terms of service and force adult sites to use the .xxx.   All of the other companies that support the adult industry could also start requiring adult businesses to use the .xxx tld such as advertising and partner accounts.

Once you start limiting choices, costs go up.  What if the .xxx tld is priced at $1000 as some have speculated.  What if hosting companies charge more for hosting .xxx?  Any number of factors could drive the cost of starting an adult business outside the reach of many wanting to get started in this business.  Even worse, those of us (including myself) could be driven out.

But let’s take pricing out of the issue.  Let’s say that a .xxx is only $10 and no one is requiring you use a .xxx domain.  You could continue to use the .com, but will you also buy the .xxx to cover your basis?  Just like many buy all of the major tld’s to cover their trademark and domain name, you’d almost be forced to buy the .xxx too.  What if the search engines decided to rank the adult “.com” sites lower for generic keywords like “teen” or “college cheerleader”.  If you’re into seo, then you’d almost be forced to buy the .xxx as well.

I could go on and on, but those are the major points that concern me – not including censorship.  I think it’s obvious the ramifications censorship and how easy it will be to block .xxx tlds.

Do I see any plus side to the .xxx?  Possibly one, and it’s a very weak argument.  Conversions will improve since anyone visiting a .xxx was probably looking for porn.  In my opinion, the .xxx tld will draw more lookers than buyers since they didn’t have to look very hard.  Not that it’s hard now.  Hence conversions will be even worse, which will indirectly drive up costs through bandwidth, advertising, and time.

Anyway, read the cnn article, the comments posted there, and let me know what you think.

Share your Knowledge

Many of you have made some great comments with tons of useful information that I think should be shared at a higher level.  Only problem is, they get buried in the comments of a post and are much harder to find.  Hence, I’m opening up this blog so you can make posts directly to it…just as if it was your own blog.

Now when you make a post, it will show up as the latest post at the top of this blog.  Visitors can rate your post, and if it gets rated well, it will show up on the sidebar for all to see (gd star plugin).

Just log in (theme my login plugin) and you should be taken to the posting page.  If you haven’t registered yet, do so and you’ll be automatically assigned as a “contributor” so you can begin posting immediately.

Basically I’m looking for the same kinds of posts that I’ve made here.  You’re welcome to post images, videos, your webmaster referral links, links to your galleries, etc…  All I ask is that your posts are informative – like stats, sponsors who are converting, how-to’s, and general updates that you think will help others in this business.

Obviously, what I don’t want are just self promoting posts that are nothing more than advertising.  But if you have a new sponsor that you’re excited about and/or is converting well for you, I welcome you to post your personal review and referral links(if applicable).

I know some of you already, so your posts will get approved automatically after your first post.  For new contributors, I will need to approve your posts manually  until I feel I can trust you.

I’m really excited to start reading your posts!

Plugin for WordPress to Play Flash

I found a nice little plugin to play the overview.swf files you get with the totemcash girl galleries. It’s called the hana flv player. Just search for it in the plugin page of your wordpress blog and it will come up. The unique thing about this particular player is that it is completely free with no commercial restrictions. Here’s an example of how I used it:

Olga Barz Free Desktop Stripper

As far as business goes, I’m having a relatively slow month. I’ve only submitted 4 galleries this month. Not sure what my problem is, just being lazy I guess. Also, my conversions for virtuagirl have taken a nose dive. I’m used to 1:200 or better, but I’m up to 1:600 this month. But as you know, sometimes a slow streak is followed by a surge of sales – at least with totemcash.

I was looking at some of my other sponsors. I haven’t promoted them in months really. For the entire year, I’ve gotten maybe less than 5000 clicks total to each of them. Some have 1 sale, most have none. For totemcash, I’ve sent about 21k hits and got 92 sales – about 1:228.

I appreciate many of you still coming back to update me on what’s going on with you. I do still check this blog several times a day. I just haven’t had anything interesting to write about till now.

I hope everyone is doing well.

Diversions – productive and unproductive

I’ve been falling behind since they installed my fios tv and internet last week.  I haven’t had cable or satellite in at least 5 years, so it’s like tv candy for me.  It was nice to see so many shows still around, like ghost hunters.  I really missed that show as well as the discovery channel.  I usually tried to catch things on hulu, but my internet connection was always too slow to enjoy – until now!

I can download and upload my content so fast now, it’s really amazing.  Yesterday I built a gallery and submitted in 45 minutes flat.  I’m saving 10-20 minutes per hour now that I have a fast internet connection.

Since my last post, I’ve submitted a few galleries and bought some new domains.  Doing keyword research for seo/domain names is a nice diversion from building galleries, yet still productive in the long term. So if you need a change of pace, do some domain and seo research.  Check out my old post on keyword research

Here are my new domains – still under construction:

Bad Girlfriend Video

Beautiful Desktop

Girls Dirty Dancing

Girlfriend 2

I’m using a new registrar since I’ve read they are adult domain friendly and the .com is only $8: MONIKER

As far as sales, I’m up about $380 gross and $300 net right now – about half on fling and half on totemcash.  Haven’t been promoting anything else.

Here is some referral money I got – THANK YOU!

As you can see, my conversions are staying fairly consistent at 1:166 – or seven times better than my webmaster referral stats.  I have to attribute that to my “pretty galleries”. Still, the 1:1133 conversion is very good for adult sponsors in general. All my other sponsors are converting 2-5 times worse, if they got sales at all. Doesn’t mean they are bad sponsors, just I don’t know how to convert the “yet”.

To that end, here are the last few I made.

Here are some new graphics I pulled that you can use to promote totemcash only:

Remember to try to be creative and different.  We all don’t want to be sending the same looking galleries to everywhere.  Hope these help you build some pretty galleries!  Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you to help you promote virtuagirl.
